Background & Objectives
    Mass redistribution and transport in the Earth system, including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, cryosphere and the interior of the solid Earth affect the Earth's shape, gravity field and rotation (the three pillars of geodesy). Space geodetic techniques, including VLBI, SLR, DORIS, GNSS, InSAR, ICESat, satellite radar and laser altimetry, satellite gravimetry (particularly CHAMP/GRACE/GOCE) and GNSS-Reflectometry & Radio Occultation, are capable of measuring and monitoring such small changes with high accuracy and spatial-temporal resolution. These provide a unique opportunity to investigate mass transport associated with geodynamics, natural hazards, and climate change, and to better understand these processes and their interaction within the Earth system.

    The International School on “Space Geodesy and Earth System” will present current space geodetic observations and capabilities as well as understanding of the physical processes and coupling in the Earth system, and future impacts on climate.

    国际大地测量协会(IAG)和中科院上海天文台联合主办 的“国际大地测量与地球系统”(SGES2012) 研讨会和暑期夏令营于2012年8月18-25日在中科院上海天文台举行。此次研讨会和暑期夏令营主要由国际大地测量协会主席、国际大地测量杂志主编、国际地球参考架负责人、国际SLR/VLBI服务组织负责人和其他国际上活跃的顶尖大地测量学者等，讲解和交流当前国际上最新的大地测量技术(包括GNSS、SLR、VLBI、InSAR、雷达测高和卫星重力等)、理论、方法和应用以及新的挑战，特别是为我国空间大地测量学者和青年科学家提供一个交流平台，同时向国际同行宣传我国在该领域的工作，提升形象，加强相互之间的沟通、联系与合作。欢迎感兴趣的高校和研究所的专家、青年学者、博士后、研究生和2013年将要毕业的大学生参加。 研讨会和暑期夏令营参与人员注册费为1250元（人民币），提供统一免费午餐，其他自理。在校本科生免费注册，对2009级（2013年毕业）本科期间总成绩在年级前20%内还提供奖学金，详见网址：http://www.shao.ac.cn/meetings; http://www.shao.ac.cn/schools;
